Cash payments are accepted but honestly, if anything goes wrong with your reservation, having the transaction record saves you a ton of headache later.

Check-in is usually after 2pm. If you arrive early like I did around noon because of a delayed bus from the rodoviária, they'll hold your bags in the receção area. There's no proper luggage room, just a corner by the front desk. Don't leave anything valuable there unattended. I saw someone leave a backpack open while they went to grab a coffee across the street. Not a good look for the neighborhood. Room rates vary seasonally. A standard double room runs anywhere from R$80 to R$130 depending on the month. The higher end gets you a room with a mini-fridge and a slightly newer bathroom. The budget option is fine if you just need somewhere to sleep between meetings. The wifi works but it's shared across maybe six rooms. During peak hours it slows down noticeably. If you need to video call, do it from the lobby area near the entrance where the signal is stronger.

Breakfast is basic. Coffee, bread, butter, maybe some cheese if they remember to stock it. It's included in the rate but don't expect anything beyond the minimum. I once showed up on a Sunday and they'd forgotten to buy pão de queijo. No big deal if you're not hungover and haven't had breakfast in two days. Everything else was adequate. One thing nobody tells you about this place: the hot water is tank-based, not instant. That means if three people shower back to back in the morning, the third person is getting lukewarm at best. I learned this the hard way. I checked in Thursday, showered Thursday night fine, used the bathroom Friday morning without issue, then my colleague came in after me and basically took a cold bath. The workaround is simple. Ask for the room with the heater element near the top of the stairwell on the second floor. It's the newer water tank and it recovers faster. I mentioned this to the owner and he nodded like he'd heard it before. He probably had.

There's a rooftop area that's technically there but barely used. There's a table and two chairs up there. It's not a lounge or anything. Don't book this place expecting a view or a place to entertain clients. Book it because it's clean, it's cheap, and it's walkable to a few restaurants on Avenida Getúlio Vargas. If you need parking, there's a small lot in the back but it fills up. Street parking is available but you'll need to walk about two minutes back. I've seen cars towed from the side street behind the pousada. The municipality there is strict about overnight parking on those blocks. Just don't leave anything visible in your car.

For longer stays, negotiate. I stayed nine nights and got the nightly rate dropped by about R$15 just by asking politely at check-in. They prefer steady occupancy over chasing new guests every few days. The staff is friendly enough. The receptionist speaks decent English if you need help with directions or transportation. She can call aUber or a local taxi if you need a ride to the airport, which is about twenty minutes away depending on traffic. A few things I wish I'd known beforehand. The walls are thin. If your neighbor is loud, you're hearing it. The area gets quiet after 11pm but not always. There's a bar nearby that stays open late. I could hear bass through the window on Friday night. Bring a white noise app on your phone if that matters to you. Also, there's no elevator. Second floor and above require stairs. If you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, request a ground floor room when you book.

Overall, it does what it says it does. It's not going to wow you. But for a budget stay in Teresina that's safe enough, centrally located, and run by people who actually show up to work, it's a solid option. I'd stay again when I'm back in town for another conference. Just pack earplugs and arrive after 2pm if you can.
